There are many resources on how to prepare your home for Airbnb, but all it might take to get a positive review is something small and memorable. SwitchIds can help you create a unique Airbnb experience for your guests, which may help you translate their experience into a positive review. Read below to see how Jane used SwitchIDs to make her home stand out just a bit more….which may be all you need to make your home stand out as well.
Janet Woodrow travels a lot for work, both nationally and internationally, and typically stays in one location for more than a week. She recently became acquainted with Airbnb during her work travel, and having wonderful experiences with it, decided her home was a good candidate to be rented out on Airbnb.
As a hostess, she loved the idea of hospitality and talking to a variety of people. She loved the hosts she had met when traveling and wanted to be the type of hostesses she had experienced. Additionally, since she had already been a patron, she felt she had a good understanding of the types of furniture, comforts, and practices she liked and wanted to imitate those things, while also eliminating the things she found problematic.
Janet researched how to prepare your home for Airbnb. The organization was key to her comfort, so she began organizing things for more ease of use for her guests. A huge problem she found when in a new place was finding the right light switches for what she needed. Unlike a hotel, where they were always in the same spot, in Airbnb homes they could be anywhere. SwitchIDs were a perfect solution, and the Ivory tone made it look like she had custom ordered them. They perfectly matched her décor and allowed her to keep a clean, professional appearance.
Unlike some of the strategies she had seen for organization in other places, SwitchIDs were something she could use around the entire house, whether or not it was available for guests. She was able to mark the overhead light in the garage, separated from the flood lights outdoors. This was very important for safety as the guests needed to use the garage when coming or going and needed to be able to see in areas they weren’t familiar with.
She also marked the bedroom light switch plates so guests knew which switches were associated with the ceiling fan, overhead light, and side table lamp. She personally knew how convenient that would be after many nights when she spent watching the fan spin to gauge if it was off or on. The same was true of the side table lamp that she wanted on as she climbed into bed.
In the bathroom, she labeled the fan, heat lamp and light. The heat lamp was a wonderful benefit, but it was important it isn’t left on. The label made it easier for guests to not only see that it was there, but for them to use it, and turn it off.
Janet is looking forward to experiencing the other side of Airbnb and is thankful for SwitchID as a solution to make her guests’ stay even more pleasant.
